Dr Narasimman Sathiamurthy MD, MMed (Surgery) received his Medical Degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2003 and completed postgraduate training in General Surgery from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2011. He further pursued fellowship training in the field of Thoracic Surgery with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and Institute of Robotic and Thoracic Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, India in the year 2016. He is currently the Head of Services for Thoracic Surgery Subspecialty in Malaysia. His forte in Thoracic Surgery is in non-intubated Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery, Uniportal Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery, tracheal resection and reconstruction and he is also one of the very few thoracic surgeons in Malaysia performing chest wall resection and reconstruction for soft tissue tumours, i.e., sarcoma. Dr Nara also carries numerous publications in both local and international journals and has keen interest in training young surgeons. He is a member of the National Surgical Conjoint Board of Examiners, Subspecialist Committee Member of the National Specialist Register and member of National General Surgical Policy Drafting Committee. He also serves as a life member of Southeast Asian Thoracic Society, Malaysian Thoracic Society, Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeries of Malaysia and Malaysian Medical Association.
