Jessie Anne De Bruyne University Malaya Medical Centre

Jessie Anne de Bruyne graduated from Sheffield Medical School in the UK and obtained her membership of the Royal College of Physicians 4 years later. She is old enough to have passed her paediatric membership examinations under the College of Physicians before the College of Paediatrics and Child Health was established. After working for several years in the UK she returned to work in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Malaya, where she stumbled onto respiratory paediatrics and headed the Paediatric Respiratory and Allergy Unit and, for the lack of another suitable body, the Paediatric Emergency Unit, and where she is now a visiting consultant after retiring. She has researched and published in the field of respiratory paediatrics and learnt together with many undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is or has been a member and/or council member in the Malaysian Paediatric Association, the Malaysian Thoracic Society, the Malaysian Society of Allergy and Immunology. She served as head of the Paediatric Lung Disease Assembly, Asia Pacific Society of Respirology. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lung Foundation of Malaysia and is Hon Secretary of Kelab-Asma Kanak-kanak. She is a proud alumnus of Convent Bukit Nanas, proud mother of 3 very different children who are now, thankfully, financially independent and proud wife of one man who fathered them all.
